Is This The Best Teri Burger? Print E-mail

Forty Niner Restaurant

481-1940
Aiea, on Kam Hwy. next to KFC
They might still get parking in KFC lot...try check

Mahalos Tasty Island Blog for featuring this teri burger recently. After I saw your post, I had to go try em. I think this could be a contender for the best teri burger on Oahu. Homemade patty was tender and juicy and seasoned just right. The teri sauce had good viscosity so you get plenty sauce in the mouth with every bite. Balanced salty sweet flavor teri sauce. Old skool teri burger experience kind like the Jolly Roger teri burger days. Only $2.55 for one nice size burger.

Forty Niner Teri Burger

It's great how you pointed out each naunce of what makes a great teri burger in this mini review. I"m especially critical on the viscosity of the teri sauce. It has to be just thick enough to caramelize and char the edges, yet not where it's "globby". One think I can't stand it "teri water". lol

So do we have a "Best Teri Burger" blind taste test on the backburner here?

Just curious, did you eat it there at the restaurant, or take-out?

Thanks Pomai for pointing out that viscosity thing. "globby", yeah, that's a good word to describe some teri burgers out there. yes, there will be a best teri burger challenge coming up...i can't wait. i ordered the burger take out, then when i got in the car, i couldn't stand it cause smelled so good, so i ripped open the wax paper bag it came in and whacked em down in the car at the stop light on kam hwy.

mahalo for the 49er teri burger profile. sheesh, i pass that place 2 million times but i'm always lazy to stop. no longer. fyi, one of my favorite teri-burgers is from uptown cafe (river street/vineyard). not sure about the viscosity of the sauce (i usually add a couple drops of shoyu) but the burger part is tender and juicy. it might be that I'm always there right when i'm at my hungriest, or it could be that i've had a couple of ice cold beers, or it could be that the lady in the back makes fresh hot andagi (but only if you ask) but i will miss the place if the city ends up building the homeless apartment building. thanks in advance for conducting the teri-burger challenge. looking forward to your choice of contenders. fyi, violet's grill isn't bad either. i really miss places like bea's, jolly roger, chunky's, and that small store behind washington intermediate.

Thanks Bobo for the tip in Uptown Cafe. I think my friends told me about this place, but they couldn't remember the name. I must try it. I'm always looking for good teri burgers and hopefully we can do the teri burger taste test soon. It's one of my "go to" items when I eat out. And fresh andagi to order? This place sounds like authentic hole in the wall. I never tried Violet's either, but my cousin recommended it. And all those places you mentioned that are now closed...you really know your local grinds!
